1.5 million euro upgrade of our L&R production facilities in Neuwied completed

In April, L&R successfully completed extensive modernization work at its production site in Neuwied. The upgrade took 12 months and five construction phases and was aimed at bringing a 960 square meter building complex up to the latest state of the art and improving the environmental compatibility of the production facility. The associated investment of 1.5 million euros also safeguarded the future viability of the site.

Safeguarding the location with new, modern and sustainable production facilities and technology.

The aim was to bring the premises for the existing production machines up to the state of the art, to make them “fit” for a future-oriented capacity expansion and to optimize the material flow. Particular attention was paid to the use of energy-efficient technology: For example, the ventilation technology was renewed according to the latest energy efficiency class (a so-called RLT system / room air technical system), modern LED lighting and a new sprinkler system were installed. These changes represent a further step in L&R's sustainability activities, which are firmly anchored in the corporate strategy and are based on selected “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) (see e.g. SDG 13 - Climate action).

Tim Kröber, L&R Site Manager Neuwied: “This upgrade is a milestone for the future viability of our site in Neuwied. It will not only enable us to increase production capacity, but it will also help to secure jobs. The investment of 1.5 million euros is an investment in the future of the site and its employees.”

The upgrade of the production facilities was carried out during a particularly challenging time - L&R (and many other companies) was faced with many challenges in the supply chain. The top priority was therefore not to impair the ability to deliver to customers. “And we succeeded brilliantly. I would like to thank all my colleagues in the team for their hard work and commitment in bringing this project to a successful conclusion. I am particularly pleased that we were only able to commission regional service providers and tradespeople with the renovation work. We were also able to increase regional added value with our conversion,” adds Tim Kröber.
